Instrument Cables face a lot of wear and tear. Any musician regularly using cables around the house, taking them to the studio, or bringing them on the road knows that a frayed cable can cause big problems. In addition to the danger in having exposed wires stretching across the room or stage, frayed cables can lead to faulty connections, affecting the sound and ruining a session.
Heat Shrink Tubing is a product that will alleviate this problem, for those who keep a spool of heat shrink tubing in their equipment case. Most instrument cables are under under 1/2" in diameter and we have a variety of Medium Spools ranging from 1/8" up to 2" in diameter in a wide range of colors. If you notice a frayed wire minutes before a show, or damage one while setting up, heat shrink will allow you to do quick repairs that will prevent exposed wiring from ruining the performance.
By simply wrapping your instrument cables in heat shrink, you can easily add a layer of protection that will extend the life of the damaged cable. And if you put your cables through a lot of abuse, wrapping them in heat shrink is a great preventative measure as well. To use heat shrink tubing, all you need is a heat source. Once the cable is wrapped, the heat shrink tubing will shrink to tightly enclose the cable. The product is available in 2:1, 3:1 and 4:1 ratios (the medium spools pictured shrink at a 2:1 ratio), allowing you the flexibility to purchase the ratio of heat shrink you need in order to fit the tubing over the top of the connector.
Cables can further benefit from heat shink if you use our custom cut and printed heat shrink tubing. This tubing will allow you can keep your cables organized by color, while also adding a custom logo, helping you to keep track of what's yours.
